During the interview, we discuss the following:

  • Corinne’s weighloss issues started at 9 years old when her single mother needed to move in with her grandparents in order to make ends meet.
  • Her well-meaning grandparents made food a source of love.
  • Eventually she decided she wanted to lose weight but noticed that once she lost her weight, she would gain it back because of her relationship with food and with herself.
  • She finally learned how to lose weight differently than she’d ever done before and that’s when she lost 100 pounds and kept it off.
  • The turning point was when she decided she wasn’t going to talk mean to herself or beat herself up anymore.
  • She finally felt emotionally better.
  • She shares that so many women over-diet, lose the weight or need a break and still nit picking our bodies.
  • Corinne explains that buffering is doing something with a net negative consequence which includes overeating.
  • The question to ask yourself is, “Why am I doing this activity and do I like my reason for doing it?”
  • Most people overeat because they’re not being decisive and using excuses or blame.
  • The first step in weight loss is making the decision that you want to make your health a priority.
  • You also can’t just want the end result, you’ve got to want the process too.
  • When we tell the truth about what we’re willing to do, we get clear on what actions need to be taken.
  • She shares that she runs two incredibly successful businesses, is in the process of buying a restaurant, and has a son with autism, but doesn’t lie to herself about what she wants and what she’s willing to do to get it.
  • She also explains that we tell ourselves we’re so busy, that we don’t have time to do the things to get healthy, but that she recommends doing a time study to see how you spend your time.
  • She shares that when you tell yourself the truth, you tend to make better decisions.
  • She attributes the success that her clients have with weightloss to the fact that she teaches them how to get to the root cause of the issue.
  • There are plenty of diet plans, but they don’t get to the root cause the way her program does.
  • She describes her program as “Modern Weightloss” – it’s not about what you put in your mouth or how much; it’s about what’s going in your brain will make it so much easier to be aware of what you’re putting in your mouth.
  • When you develop a better relationship with yourself you’re better able to deal with the urges to eat to cope with your life.
  • She also redefined what working looks like so that she’s not stressed at the end of the day, believing that she didn’t do enough.
